Currently a board member of Po Fook Tong Cantonese Opera Musicians of the Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong, he was a formal protégé of Mr Mak Wai-man, an eminent music master in Cantonese Opera. With close to 30 years of experience in musical works for Cantonese Opera, he can play gaohu, violin, sanxian, ruan, yangqin and other musical instruments as well as Cantonese Opera percussion accompaniment in Cantonese opera. In 2000, he set up the Delighted Music Association to develop comprehensive Cantonese opera courses, including Cantonese opera singing, pacing in music for Cantonese opera, pacing with Cantonese Opera percussion, music theory and instrument performances, etc. Mr Cheung also once served as the music leader of the Sun Moon Star Cantonese Opera, pacing leader of Kim San Sing Cantonese Opera Troupe and music leader of Kim Sum Cantonese Opera Association. He is now dedicated to teaching work in different groups.
